Product Description

The Sena UltraSlim Pouch for the Apple iPod touch is individually hand-crafted from the finest Italian Napa leather with Sena's well-known quality and strong attention to detail. The pouch is a special Sena design offering an ultra slim solution for those who dislike the extra bulk of common protective cases--it is the leanest case Sena offers for the iPod Touch. The slim curve hugging leather and velvet lining is as close to naked as the iPod Touch can get. The UltraSlim Pouch is designed with pebble soft thin leather and also includes speaker openings for the iTouch. The thin pouch design is perfect for individuals who prefer carrying the iPod Touch in a pant or jacket pocket.

Slim, streamlined and elegant, just like your iPod touch4
I've been looking for a simple and elegant case for my iPod touch since I got it--no buckles, no clasps, no belt clip, just a clean and streamlined all-over slipcase that would protect the well-loved computer-in-a-clamshell iPod that's become my favorite electronic toy. Sena's Ultra Slim Pouch Case comes darn near to perfectly filling that need. It's a slender and sleek leather case, lined with soft velvet, that slips over the iPod touch. That's it, that's all--no unnecessary bells or whistles.

The Ultra Slim case fits both current generations of the iPod Touch--a bit too snugly at first, so snugly that an instruction card is included on how to wiggle the iPod out of the sleeve. Use the "squeezing the toothpaste from the side" approach! (Sorry iPhone owners, it won't fit the iPhone.) Within a couple days of use, however, the sleeve stretches and gives just that extra amount to keep the grip snug but easier to slide in and out.

That little extra bit of grip on the Ultra Slim is essential. Its simplicity of design means there's no access to the iPod touch's controls when you've got it in the case--want to skip a song, raise the volume, or stop it? You'll have to take it fully out of the case. This isn't a slipcase for the ultra-active iPod user, therefore; you'll want to try an alternative that allows access to the touchscreen like the DLO HipCase Leather Folio Case or the Speck PixelSkin. But for simple elegance and scratch protection, this is a classy solution.

My sole quibble? Hold the case up to the light and peer inside. You can see the light through the stitches that hold the case together; as you pull the iPod in and out you're slowly stretching out the stitches. I'm worried not only that some day the case will become loose and the iPod touch will fly out on its own, or worse, the threads will split, leaving me with two small pieces of velvet-sided leather. For the moment, however, it's holding up well and suits my needs. It's nice to get some envious looks for my case as well as for my iPod touch!

A nice case but not spectacular3
The pouch case is a nice product, and I may end up sticking with it over my DLO HipCase. But it does have some compromises when compared to the HipCase.

Yes, the leather case is good-looking and sleek. It fits snugly. However, you can't use the iPod without taking it out of the case and the pouch won't provide much protection against drops or bumps. There's also no clip of any kind so you have to keep it in a pocket. I'm always paranoid about it slipping out if I bend over anything, like the sink.

While the HipCase has a clip for attaching to my belt and lets me use the iPod without removing it from the protective case, I will admit that I don't like how it bulks up the iPod and hides it's good looks.

Plus using the Sena pouch makes sense with an in-car mount like the Griffin WindowSeat or the Apple dock because you have to take the iPod out of the case anyway.

Overall, I like the Sena case for its simplicity and good looks, but it's not yet the ultimate iPod touch case.

A simple, smooth slipcase5
This is a simple product, which undoubtably accounts for some of the pricing complaints in these reviews - but it's also very well-made of good materials, which actually accounts for the price. Given just how much quality leather goods cost these days, I think the pricing is reasonable.

I acquired this case for my iPhone, although it is designed for the iPod Touch. As an iPhone case, it is initially over-snug, though it loosens up to accomodate the iPhone in a few days. It is also marginally short for the iPhone. It leaves about a quarter inch of the phone sticking out of the case, but covers the camera lens and still gives free access to the ringer switch.

I have 3 cases for my iPhone: a Sena leather belt-clip case, a silicone skin, and now this slipcase. All have their place. My belt case is bulky, but the most protective and convenient. The silicone case is also very protective, but as a pocketable case it has some problems, as it really sticks to the inside of the pocket. It also picks up lint and dust.

I picked up the Sena leather case (this item) as a better alternative to the silicone case and am very happy with it. It is very smooth and very thin. It adds no unnecessary bulk in your pocket, and slips in and out (of the pocket, that is) effortlessly, which is my primary requirement in a pocket case.

This case is not meant for anything beyond light-duty protection. It will protect from scratches and minor bumps, but that's it. On the flip side, as a slip case, you need to make sure that there's no grit INSIDE the case ... or you'll scratch your iPod just by using it.

This is not a quick-access case. You have to completely remove your iPod (or iPhone) from the case to have full function access. The easiest way to remove it is to hold the case by the side between your thumb and forefinger, and push the device up and out by pushing with your other thumb on the bottom of the case. Once the device is out an inch or so, just grab it and pull it out.

I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a pocket slipcase - but who understands the usage limitations. My phone is out for extended periods when in use and I don't require instant access. If you want or need quick, frequent access to your iPod or iPhone, you don't want a slipcase.
